Equitop Farm

Mr. Lou

Mr. Lou is a five-year old registered Westphalian Stallion, bred and raised here at Equitop Farm, sired by Montender, out of Palmyra by Portland L. He was licensed in the fall of 2022 receiving high marks of 9 in the free jumping chute and he was commended for his natural scope and style. His canter was evaluated as uphill and well balanced, while his trot impressed the judges with swing and rhythm.

Mr. Lou’s pedigree matches the proven combination of the Montender sire line paired with the dam line by Portland L.  Mr. Lou’s breeding was inspired to match the pedigree of the famous Toveks Mary Lou, who in 2019 became ranked WBFSH World #1 in show jumping with current Olympic gold medalist Henrik von Eckermann. This mare Toveks Mary Lou was recently retired from the sport, only before she finished two times third place at the World Cup Finals and after winning three of the qualifiers. She jumped double clear in the Nations Cup at Aachen. She was also awarded silver medals at both the European Championship in Gothenburg and WEG in Tryon 2018. She won in 2019 the prestigious Rolex Grand Prix of ‘s-Hertogenbosch. These are only a few of her many accomplishments.

Mr. Lou’ s sire Montender  was highly successful in all major Championships with German rider Marco Kutscher, including two bronze medals at the Olympic Games in Athen ( 2004), fifth in the World Cup Final in Milan (2005) and won two gold medals at the European Championships in San Patrignano (2005).

Mr Lou’s dam sire Portland , also standing at Equitop Farm, competed successfully at the 1.45 m levels in Germany before coming to Canada. His offspring are known for their exceptional temperaments and amateur friendly performances up to the high levels.

Currently Mr. Lou is being developed under saddle for his first upcoming show season in the five-yr old jumper classes and for continued stallion performance testing.  We have been impressed in his training, and  his gaits are uphill and very comfortable to ride.  He loves to work!
